Arman Tabatabai of TechCrunch has been hired by the New York Times in the video department.
Tabatabai is operations manager and will work on operational projects across the video team, including awards, onboarding, budget and project tracking. In this role he will work collaboratively with each editorial team and report into Francesca Barber.
At TechCrunch, he helped lead content operations and content strategy. During his tenure, Tabatabai focused largely on assisting the launch of TechCrunch’s multimedia subscription platform Extra Crunch. As operations lead for Extra Crunch, he oversaw content, budget and production workflows, while also conducting the platform’s content-related analytics.
On top of his work on Extra Crunch, Tabatabai helped implement new quantitative data-driven approaches to TechCrunch’s existing editorial strategy and operational processes, while also occasionally writing about trends in the startup and venture capital world.
Prior to his time at TechCrunch, Arman was an equity research associate at Morgan Stanley, covering the power, utility and clean energy sectors.
