Dale Hokrein, the editor at the Tampa Tribune who oversaw the paper’s business news coverage, was among those who were laid off at the paper on Monday. The Tribune and its sister papers laid off 165 staffers Monday.

Hokrein had been at the paper since December 2004, specializing in investigative and enterprise reporting. He received high marks from the reporters who worked for him. On his Twitter feed, Hokrein noted he already had two leads on new jobs.

Before working at the Tribune, a Media General paper, he was business editor at the Florida Times-Union for four years and six months, leading a 10-person desk where he also helped connect the newspaper’s coverage with a local broadcast station.

Hokrein was also the editor of the Augusta Chronicle from 1998 to 2000 and was the inaugural editor of the Atlanta Business Chronicle, a monthly tab magazine on local business news from the Chronicle.

He is a 1987 graduate of Covenant College.
