From Sunday, Aug. 6, through Wednesday, Aug. 23, Talking Biz News will be operating out of South Africa.
I am running a handful of seminars and talks on business journalism for media outlets in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban during my time there, and I hope that the experience will give me a perspective on what business journalism is like in another country.
In addition, I’m going to be meeting with journalism students and professors at several universities who are interested in business journalism. The whole thing is being underwritten by a grant from the U.S. State Department, and the schedule has been organized by the U.S. Embassy in South Africa.
The goal of the trip is to upgrade the quality of business journalism in South Africa.
I can’t promise that Talking Biz News will be fully functional during this time, but I hope to have Internet access enough to post regularly about business journalism both in South Africa and back in the States.
