Swasy leaving Dow Jones Newswires to become ME in Wilmington

Alecia Swasy, assistant managing editor of Dow Jones Newswires, is headed to The News Journal in Wilmington, Del., according to an internal e-mail distributed Thursday morning.

Alecia SwasyAs of Jan. 7, she’ll be managing editor, overseeing a staff of about 140. In an e-mail, she told Talking Biz News: “I’m thrilled to be joining such a terrific team of journalists at the News Journal.”

Swasy previously worked at the The Wall Street Journal, St. Petersburg Times and the Virginian Pilot.

At the Virginian Pilot, she was deputy managing editor. Previously, Swasy was assistant managing editor for business at the Times, where she had also served as business editor. In addition, she has worked as a writer for both the Pittsburgh and Atlanta bureaus of The Wall Street Journal and was editor of The Daily Collegian at Penn State University.

She also wrote “Changing Focus: Kodak and the Battle to Save a Great American Company” and “Soap Opera: The Inside Story about Procter & Gamble.”
