Central Illinois Communications, parent company of the Illinois Times, has purchased the Springfield Business Journal.
A story on the State Journal-Register website states, “‘I have admired the Business Journal ever since it came to Springfield 18 years ago,’ CIC president Fletcher Farrar said in a statement. ‘We look forward to continuing its traditions while building on the foundation it has laid.’
“The Business Journal is a monthly publication. Illinois Times publishes weekly.
“Farrar said the publications would share Illinois Times space at 1240 S. Sixth St. Terms of the sale were not disclosed. Brant Mackey, publisher of the Springfield Business Journal since 2006, said he plans to pursue a teaching career. Mackey has a bachelor’s degree in education.
“Michelle Higgenbotham has been named associate publisher of the Business Journal. Higgenbotham worked at the Business Journal for five years before going into commercial real estate.”
