Sports Business Journal hires chief revenue officer

Eileen Silvergleid

Sports Business Journal announced Monday the hiring of Eileen Silvergleid as chief revenue officer.

She will oversee all revenue, including ad sales, conference sponsorship, partnerships and circulation.

“I’m excited to welcome Eileen to SBJ,” said Abraham Madkour, publisher and executive editor of Sports Business Journal/Daily, in a statement. “As we look across all our current and future revenue streams for the company, she will be instrumental in building sales and marketing, growing our client base, ideating new products and further enhancing our partnership strategy. Her deep understanding of sales, marketing, product development and the customer journey—coupled with her intelligence, energy and leadership style—are going to be a valuable addition as we continue to expand our media company’s footprint and uphold our position as the authoritative voice of sports business.”

Silvergleid brings more than 20 years of experience leading various sales and account management teams in the C-level professional services industry, most recently for research and advisory firm Gartner (formerly CEB).

“I’m thrilled to bring my sales and marketing experience to such a highly respected and well-known organization as Sports Business Journal,” Silvergleid said. “Together we have a great opportunity to build on an already successful model, with the goal of   creating scalable sales processes, and managing staff to their highest potential.”

Silvergleid will report to Madkour and be based in SBJ’s New York City office.

Her hiring comes after the April announcement that Madkour, the longtime executive editor, would also take on the role of publisher of Sports Business Journal/Sports Business Daily, as well as the publications’ conferences and events group, and other related properties.
