Sportico adds two editorial staffers with Intercollegiate acquisitions

Sports business news site Sportico has added two editorial staffers as part of its acquisition of The Intercollegiate, which covers college sports.

The Intercollegiate cofounder Daniel Libit is joining as sports business reporter, and cofounder Luke Cyphers is joining as editor and reporter.

“We can only offer our sympathies to the nation’s public university records custodians, who will be hearing from us even more than before,” said Libit in a statement.

The Intercollegiate launched in October 2019. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Cyphers previously worked on the New York Daily News investigations team and spent a decade as a senior editor and senior writer for ESPN The Magazine.

Libit spent more than a decade covering national politics for Politico, National Journal, The Daily and CNBC.com.

Sportico launched earlier this year.
