South Florida Biz Journal ME Adams to depart, return to Texas

Michael Adams

South Florida Business Journal managing editor Michael Adams is leaving the paper and returning to Austin, Texas.

His last day is Dec. 11. Adams joined the publication, where he oversees newsroom operations, in January 2019. He supervises and edits reporters, and oversees the distribution of business news across publishing platforms such as online, mobile, email, print and social media.

Adams has accepted a position as a marketing managing editor with a medical doctor with her own line of health and dietary supplements. He will also begin pursuing a master’s degree in exercise physiology at the University of Texas.

Adams previously spent nine years at the Austin American-Statesman, where he held positions such as community sports editor, design editor and sports bridge editor.

Adams has a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
