The Verge today announced two promotions.

Sottek is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where he studied philosophy. He is also the creator of tabletop roleplaying game Quest.
The Vox Media-owned website also announced that Helen Havlak has been named vice president, overseeing all editorial operations. She has held the titles of engagements editor and editorial director at the outlet, and prior to that was an account supervisor at PR firm Edelman. She graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
“[E]veryone has heard me say that Helen Havlak actually runs The Verge for awhile now, so we’re just making it official. Helen will now be my boss, taking a new position as VP of The Verge,” said editor in chief Nilay Patel.
In addition to The Verge, Vox Media publishes SB Nation, Polygon, Curbed, Eater, Vox.com and Recode.
