Skift managing editor Faye Chiu was among those laid off this week as part of cost-cutting measures at the travel business media company.

In March, the company furloughed a third of its 61 employees, and founder Rafat Ali has said he anticipates a significant drop in revenues for the year, largely from a slate of live events being cancelled. As part of cost cuts, the company also will give up its Manhattan office lease at the end of July and go all-remote.

During her tenure at Skift, Chiu oversaw newsroom production of digital and print content, helped launch newsletters focused on Asia and luxury and wellness, and helped to create a daily podcast.

Previously, Chiu was a veteran of Conde Nast, where she had been a senior manager in the lifestyle division since July 2017.

She was also associate managing editor for Bon Appetit and Epicurious from January 2015 to June 2017. She led daily operations at the relaunched, award-winning food and lifestyle brands.

She managed print and digital assets during a period of increased editorial and branded content creation with launch of Healthyish and Basically online verticals.

Chiu was also an assistant managing editor at Bon Appetit and managing editor at Lucky and Lucky Kids.
