Shakeout among furniture biz publications

November 10, 2006

Home Furnishings Business has bought out rival industry publication InFurniture, according to a story on the Triad Business Journal’s web site.

The story stated, “Both magazines are based in High Point. The sale is effective immediately but terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“Home Furnishings Business was launched in January with a focus on retail strategy, and is published by North American Publishing. InFurniture was first published in 2000 by Fairchild Publications and specialized in trend-watching for retailers.

“Select editorial content of InFurniture will be integrated into Home Furnishings Business in upcoming issues. The magazine will expand to 14 issues per year in 2007.

“Home Furnishings Business will continue with publisher Amy Kyle and Editor Sheila Long O’Mara, both of whom had worked at InFurniture previously. The company did not say whether or not it will retain any InFurniture employees.”
