Separating Forbes' ME from his Blackberry and cell phone

Forbes managing editor Dennis Kneale was on the “Today” show this morning showing what happens when you take a high-powered business journalist away from his Blackberry, his cell phone and his e-mail.

The results were not pretty, apparently.

David Ewalt, who writes the Digital Download blog for the business magazine, muses, “Could you survive without your cell phone, BlackBerry, or email for an entire week? You might think it’d be easy –but so did Forbes managing editor Dennis Kneale, who let NBC’s Today show take away his tech for a special segment, ‘Could You Do Without?‘ Going cold turkey turns out to be much harder than Dennis anticipated –and leaves him literally in tears. The segment is really well done and Dennis proves to be a very good sport.”

The title of Ewalt’s post? “Read Forbes. We’re edited by crybabies.”

Charlie White on the Gizmodo blog wrote, “What an excellent segment! It’s a testament to the techno-addiction to which few of us are immune. Especially us. How about you? Could you do without?”
