Senior reporter Rowan leaves Penny Hoarder

Lisa Rowan, a senior reporter and on-air analyst at personal finance site The Penny Hoarder, has left the publication.

Rowan said she’s looking for a new position on the East Coast in features or investigative reporting.

At The Penny Hoarder, she wrote personal finance features along with a weekly advice column, Dear Penny, that was syndicated by the Tampa Bay Times.She had been at Penny Hoarder since August 2016.

Rowan co-wrote The Penny Hoarder’s first longform series, The American Nightmare (2018), which explored the long-term impact of the 2008 financial crisis on homeownership and housing access in the United States.

She also co-hosted “Pop Fashion,” a top-rated weekly podcast about the business of fashion and culture. Her work has appeared in The Washington Post, Racked, CityLab, and the Washington City Paper, among others.
