Senior editor DeFotis leaving Barron’s

Dimitra DeFotis

Senior editor Dimitra DeFotis is leaving Barron’s after more than 17 years at the publication.

At the end of her farewell column, DeFotis wrote:

The tumult in Brazil, Russia, India, China, Greece, Turkey, Argentina, and Venezuela has produced some amazing stories and frequently amazing returns. It was an honor to be entrusted with this beat to explain global events to investors, and occasionally help them beat the market. I plan to continue writing about developing economies and investing.

Before Barron’s, DeFotis spent three years as a staff writer at the Chicago Tribune.

She also worked eight years at the suburban Chicago paper The Daily Herald, where she was a business reporter for three years.

DeFotis holds degrees from the University of Illinois and Columbia University, where she was a Knight-Bagehot fellow in the journalism and business schools.
