The Seattle Times has hired Levi Pulkkinen as its assistant business editor.
“It’s a consequential moment for the Northwest,” said Pulkkinen on Twitter. “I’m so lucky to get to help tell the $$$ part of that story.”
Pulkkinen has been freelancing for more than three years. His reporting has appeared in U.S. News & World Report, The Guardian, The Hechinger Report and GeekWire, as well as Yes! Magazine, High Country News, Next City, and The Appeal.
Before going independent, he served as senior editor at SeattlePI, where he also reported for 11 years. He also worked at the Skagit Valley Herald newspaper.
Pulkkinen holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University.
