Amena Saiyid, air and water reporter at Bloomberg Environment, is leaving the company to join IHS Markit’s gas, power and energy futures division as a senior research analyst in late October.
Saiyid will be bringing 20 years of journalism experience to her new role. She has covered energy and environmental issues, coal, uranium and emissions markets. She also specializes in covering U.S. water pollution, air pollution, and climate change laws.
Saiyid was also an associate editor at Platts reporting on uranium, coal, and air emissions markets. She also covered coal mining and uranium mining policy as it affected markets.
She has also served as a congressional fellow at the American Political Science Association and was an editor at Argus Media. There, she covered climate change, air quality, and emissions markets.
She has also worked at Northern Virginia Journal as Northern Virginia Transportation, Fairfax and Loudoun Counties government reporter.
Saiyid earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from The College of William and Mary. She also holds a M.A. in journalism from University of Missouri-Columbia.
