Forbes has announced that Jenny Rooney, the architect of Forbes’ CMO Network, has been promoted to the role of communities director.
Her new role will have her overseeing all of Forbes’ editorial communities focused on the C-suite and aspiring entrepreneurial networks.
Rooney will also take on the post of chair of Forbes’ CMO Network, overseeing the strategy and development of each network, which includes CFO, CIO, ForbesWomen, Small Business and Under 30. She will also partner with the editors for each community to create additional touchpoints of engagement.
“The prototype for our community-focused strategy is Jenny’s hugely successful CMO Network, which is without peer in the industry,” chief content officer Randall Lane said. “Jenny has a deep understanding of what it takes to create a highly engaged audience and, in harnessing her expertise, we’ll be driving conversations around the core issues important – and unique – to all.”
Specifically, Rooney will partner with Ezequiel (Zeke) Minaya (CFO); Martin Giles (CIO); Maneet Ahuja (Small Business); Maggie McGrath (ForbesWomen) and Steven Bertoni (Under 30) helping each to expand their communities.
“The fundamental driver of cultivating a deeply engaged community is providing them with content and insights they need to succeed,” Rooney said. “I look forward to collaborating with the respective editors to create a compelling strategy and vision that makes each community more successful.”
With her expanded role, Rooney has promoted Marty Swant to Staff Writer and CMO Network Editor. Swant joined Forbes from Adweek last year.
