February 6, 2012

Lauren Young, the wealth editor at Reuters, made the following staff announcement on Monday:

I’m pleased to announced that Linda Stern has been promoted to Deputy Editor, Personal Finance. In her new role, Linda will assist me in developing coverage of retirement, taxes, healthcare, real estate and other core personal finance topics. She will work closely with our stellar line up of contributors and coordinate special projects with other editorial teams. Linda will continue to write her popular weekly column, Stern Advice.

Linda likes to joke that she had the longest internship in company history since she wrote a column for Reuters for two decades before joining us full time in 2010.

Previously, Linda was a contributing editor at Newsweek magazine, where she was on the team awarded a National Magazine General Excellence Award for post-9/11 coverage. She has also written for Money Magazine and blogged for CBS MoneyWatch.

Based in Washington, she tweets @LindaStern and can be reached at Linda.stern@thomsonreuters.com

Please join me in congratulating her. (And yes, she will still have plenty of time to answer your questions about retirement plan options, airline miles and credit card fees.)
