Recode hires Schleifer as senior editor

Recode editor in chief Dan Frommer sent out the following announcement:

Team Recode,

I’m excited to announce that Teddy Schleifer will be joining our team in a new Senior Editor role this summer, based in Vox Media’s San Francisco office.

Teddy’s focus will be to aggressively follow the money in Silicon Valley, covering capital, power, and influence. His job will be to break news and tell the stories behind big investments, fast-rising startups and executives, interesting characters, power struggles, winners and losers, side hustles and ambitious hobbies, long before there’s a press release or cover-up.

He joins us from CNN, where he’s been in a similar role covering a different industry — politics and campaign finance, based in Washington, D.C. There, he covered Trump’s power broker, why money didn’t matter in the presidential race as much as we thought it would, Trump’s struggles with the Republican establishment, and more. (Politico named him one of the 2016 election’s “breakout media stars.”) Prior to that, he was at the Houston Chronicle, where he broke the news that Ted Cruz was running for president, and interned at the New York Times.

Teddy is originally from Delaware, graduated from Princeton, and enjoys trivia, backpacking, and “taking flag football too seriously.”

Please join me in welcoming him to Recode!
