Providence Business News editor Mark SMurphy will leave his post after nearly 14 years, effective Sept. 23, for a job at Bryant University.

A story on its website states, “Murphy has been appointed to lead the John H. Chafee Center for International Business at Bryant University, succeeding Raymond W. Fogarty who died on Sept. 27,2018.

“Under Murphy’s tenure as editor of PBN, the paper has garnered dozens of local, regional and national awards for its coverage. Most recently PBN.com was named one of the best three websites in the nation for business news organizations, which followed the same 2018 award. Also in 2018 PBN’s print edition was named one of the best two publications in the nation. Earlier this year PBN was named the best specialty newspaper in New England for the second consecutive year, which followed up on being named the New England Newspaper of the Year in the fall of 2018.

“‘Mark Murphy brought a new level of editorial excellence to Providence Business News.  As Mark starts a new chapter at the Chaffee Center, I’m sure we’ll be reading about his collaboration with local and global leaders,’ said Publisher Roger Bergenheim.”
