Protocol hires Business Insider’s Williams to cover enterprise tech

Joe Williams

Tech news site Protocol has hired Business Insider reporter Joe Williams to cover enterprise software.

Williams has been a senior reporter on Business Insider’s enterprise tech desk covering emerging tech.

He previously was on the strategy desk covering a range of topics, including artificial intelligence and cloud computing for Business Insider. He also focused on how companies respond to the shift toward the advanced technology and the corresponding organizational impact.

Apart from Business Insider, Williams has been published at Yahoo Finance, Insider, The Toronto Star, Fox Business, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Business Insider Australia, The Charlotte Observer, Boston Herald, Washington Examiner and more.

Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from Bradley University.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
