Preview of Daniel Pearl movie sold out

Derek Gentile of the Berkshire Eagle in Massachusetts writes that a local preview of the movie about the death of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, which debuts across the country this weekend, is sold out. Proceeds of the local preview will go to the Daniel Pearl Scholarship Fund.

Pearl was a business reporter at the Berkshire Eagle from 1988 to 1991 before joining the Journal.

Gentile wrote, “‘A Mighty Heart’ is the film version of journalist Mariane Pearl’s book. In it, she details the story behind the kidnapping and subsequent murder of her husband, journalist Daniel Pearl, by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002.

“Pearl worked for The Wall Street Journal at the time, but the California native began his career at the North Adams Transcript in 1986, following his graduation from Stanford University in 1985.

“He subsequently moved on to work at the Springfield Union-News in 1987 before accepting a post as business reporter for The Berkshire Eagle in August 1988. He was hired by The Wall Street Journal in 1991.

“The film will be shown at Theater One, the largest in the complex, said Mansfield, adding that interest has been high since it was announced that Great Barrington would join New York, Chicago, Boston and Washington, D.C., as hosts of the movie.”
