Keith Kelly of the New York Post reports that Kyle Pope has been promoted to articles editor at business news magazine Conde Nast Portfolio by editor Joanne Lipman.
“He freelanced on the West Coast and then returned to the Journal before leaving more than a year ago to become one Lipman’s early hires at Portfolio.
“‘He’s a force for good,’ said one insider. ‘He’s told Joanne when she’s been wrong.’
“While nobody seems to have the long knives out, another theory is that Pope’s elevation will have little impact on the sagging morale inside or the overall direction of the magazine.”
