Politico transportation reporter Gardner joining Politico Pro Canada

Lauren Gardner

Politico Pro editor Marty Kady sent out the following announcement on Monday:

Morning Everyone!

The launch of our new Pro Canada vertical drew enthusiastic and accomplished applicants from across the continent. But we are thrilled to announce have filled our second Pro Canada position with a veteran Pro reporter. Lauren Gardner, who has been on the Pro Transportation team for three years, will be joining the Canada launch team along with incoming former Canadian Press Washington correspondent Alex Panetta to build this exciting new vertical for POLITICO.

Pro Canada subscribers will benefit from Lauren’s extensive experience covering Capitol Hill on key policy areas that impact cross-border interests – including taxation, transportation, and energy. Lauren started her career at BNA covering the IRS and then moved to CQ to work for Peter King, covering committee markups and floor action. She also covered energy and environment policy, focusing on EPA and climate change policy during Obama’s second term. Then CQ alum Kathy Wolfe hired her away to cover transportation and infrastructure.

Lauren has become such a pro at writing newsletters that she’s going to teach the Pro newsletter training session next month. Her skills will allow our new team hit the ground running when our Pro Canada vertical launches later this fall.

This new role also allows Lauren to marry her Washington expertise with a passion for international affairs. Lauren double-majored in International Studies along with Foreign Language and Communications Media at American University. She studied at the Université de la Sorbonne in Paris and is fluent in French.

Please join us in congratulating Lauren and wishing her Bonne Chance!
