Rebecca Kern has joined Politico’s technology team, covering online speech, misinformation, content moderation and the broader technology policy on Capitol Hill.
Kern joins from Bloomberg Government, where she was a technology reporter covering technology policy issues and legislation on Capitol Hill, including privacy, telecom and cybersecurity issues. She also helped write BGov’s Tech and Cyber Briefing daily newsletter.
She has also served as an energy reporter and then as a senior energy reporter at Bloomberg Environment. She was also a consumer product safety reporter at Bloomberg. She has also written freelance articles for The Washington Post Express’ “Ready to Rent”section about apartment’s rentals and “Ahead” section on higher education.
Kern also worked freelance for Modern Healthcare and MDEdge. She has also reported and edited for Pharma intelligence | informa and has worked at U.S. News & World Report. She has also interned at USA Today.
Kern has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from American University.
