Elizabeth Pears has joined the Financial Times as a news desk editor following her maternity leave. Previously, she was at BuzzFeed, where she held the post of news editor. Prior to that, she was deputy news editor..
Pears started her career as a freelance journalist – news editing, features, and breaking news, and then became news editor at The Voice Media Group. She was also a feature writer at 3Fox International and has written for PR Week.
Pears was also part of a team of researchers and journalists investigating England’s summer of disorder. The landmark study was a partnership between the Guardian and the London School of Economics.
She was also a senior reporter on the Haringey and Enfield Independent, Newsquest. She has also done summer internships at Guardian Group and Express Newspapers.
Pears is a B.A. in English from Brunel University London and a M.A. in journalism from the University of Sunderland.
