Orlando Sentinel taps Rice to cover tourism and theme parks

Orlando Sentinel reporter Katie Rice is now covering the tourism industry, including theme parks.

She has been a breaking news reporter on the Sentinel’s Justice & Safety team.

She earned her master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University in 2019 after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2018 with degrees in journalism and Hispanic literature and culture.

While at Northwestern, she worked for the Medill News Service. At UNC, she worked at The Daily Tar Heel.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
