Chabeli Carrazana, a space and business reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, has been hired by The 19th to cover women and the economy.
She will start June 22.
Carrazana has been covering worker issues, business development and the space industry. Her work has focused on the intersection of business and poverty, labor disputes and inequality.
he has been recognized by the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, the Society for Features Journalism and the Society of Professional Journalists – Florida.
Previously, Carrazana worked at the Miami Herald as tourism reporter and a health care reporter. She also enjoyed a stint with WLRN, South Florida’s NPR station, and the Miami Herald as a Public Insight Network analyst and digital strategist, where her work centered on developing audience engagement.
She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
