The Orange County Register redesigned its Monday business section, beginning with today’s section.
Reporter Jan Norman wrote, “That’s what we’re doing: emphasizing what you can’t get anywhere else and cutting back on what you can get everywhere. No one else covers Orange County and its people like the Register. And in that vein, what Business Monday does best is local coverage of small businesses and their owners and of careers and challenges in the workplace.
“Perhaps the most significant change may not be evident in the newsprint edition of Business Monday.
“You business owners know that a Web presence has gone from novelty to necessity in the past 10 years. For the news industry as well, the Internet has become the 800-pound gorilla pushing change. A lot of news readers, unwilling to wait for the next day’s newspaper, read their news online. A lot of advertisers are moving their dollars to Internet advertising.
“The Marketplace and Business Monday sections want to be there for those readers and advertisers. Take a look at some of the blogs, videos and breaking news stories in the Money section of http://www.ocregister.com.”
