In a memo to staff, New York Times Magazine editor Jake Silverstein announced that Jenna Wortham will join the magazine as a staff writer.
Silverstein wrote:
I’m very happy to announce that the great and wonderful Jenna Wortham, a.k.a. Jenny Deluxe, is joining the magazine as a staff writer. Jenna, as many of you already know, joins the magazine from the Business desk, where over the past six years, she has been one of the most savvy and intelligent voices anywhere covering digital business and culture.
As a columnist, Jenna has been a great synthesizer of the ideas, trends, memes, and imagery that swarm through our collective mind, someone who can be counted on to rove widely and perceptively through the digital terrain. Before joining The Times, Jenna did a stint at Wired and her work has also appeared in Matter, the Awl, Bust magazine, The Hairpin, Vogue, The Morning News, Fader and various other publications.
At the magazine, Jenna will continue to cover digital business and culture broadly speaking. She’ll be an essential part of our revamped digital presence and one of our most important voices online and on social media. Her first day at the magazine will be December 15. Please join me in congratulating Jenna on this move.
