NYT reporter wins Overseas Press Club award for biz reporting

Former New York Times reporter Amy Waldman won the Overseas Press Club award for best business reporting in newspapers for her series on India’s program to pave 40,000 miles of highways as the country embraces capitalism. The award is called the Malcolm Forbes Award.

The 67th annual Overseas Press Club awards were announced Tuesday. An award ceremony will take place in New York on Thursday.

Waldman is now a national correspondent for The Atlantic Monthly. She was previously the co-bureau chief in New Delhi, India for The Times and before that a reporter on the metro desk, covering breaking news in Afghanistan after Sept. 11. Before joining The Times, she worked as an editor at the Washington Post and as an editor and writer at The Washington Monthly. From 1992 to 1994 she lived in South Africa teaching at the University of Western Cape and working as a freelance journalist. Waldman is a graduate of Yale University
