NYPost real estate columnist Kiel dies

Braden Kiel, the real estate columnist for the New York Post, died Tuesday from melanoma. He was 53.

Rita Delfiner of the Post writes, “Keil, an engaging, gregarious Manhattanite whose ‘Gimme Shelter’ column was a must-read and whose greatest pleasure was spending time with wife Jennifer Gould Keil and his three children, died Tuesday night of cancer.

“‘Braden was both a personal friend and an utterly professional journalist,’ said Post Editor-in-Chief Col Allan.

“‘As a real-estate reporter, he had no peer. As a man, he was a gentleman of great character whose smile and ready wit illuminated the darkest room. The Post is diminished by his passing.’

“Keil, who was equally at home in a pub as he was at the city’s swankiest eateries or Hamptons estates, was a fourth-generation Chicagoan who became a Renaissance man.”
