National Public Radio’s Cardiff Garcia announced Wednesday that he will be leaving in March 2021.

Garcia has been a co-host on “The Indicator from Planet Money,” a show about work, business and the economy.

“What a blessed experience it’s been to create and develop a show inside such a talented newsroom, and in tandem with the superlative journalists of Planet Money,” he wrote in an internal message.

Garcia said in his message that he is pursuing an independent project.

He joined NPR in November 2o17 from the Financial Times.

He was the U.S. editor of FT Alphaville, the flagship economics and finance blog of the Financial Times, where for seven years he wrote and edited stories about the U.S. economy and financial markets.

He was also the founder and host of FT Alphachat, the FT’s award-winning business and economics podcast.
