“Nightly Business Report” names national assignment editor

“Nightly Business Report” has named business television journalist Ruben Ramirez as its national assignment editor.

Ramirez will be based in New York City and begin Jan. 9.

“Ruben brings a wealth of financial media experience to NBR,” said Tom Hudson, co-anchor and managing editor, in a statement.

Ramirez was most recently a reporter and field producer with Reuters Television based in New York City.  He has also held positions at both CNNfn, the financial network of CNN and CNBC.  Ramirez began his career at ABC News in New York in 1997.

Ramirez will be responsible for working with all NBR bureaus, correspondents, producers, photographers and editors. He will report to Hudson.

He has a B.A. in business administration with a focus in finance and broadcast journalism from Boston University.

In addition to his commitment to broadcast journalism, Ramirez also devotes his time as a national board member to The Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth across the United States.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
