New Mississippi biz reporter and her job change

LaTonya Felix, the new business reporter at the Hattiesburg American in Mississippi, writes about her new beat and how it’s different from covering entertainment, her old beat.

Felix writes, “For the past few years, my main job was writing about local entertainment. I’ve written a weekly column spouting off about my favorite pop culture.

“Now the tables have turned.

“I’m trading in the reality television news to talk about more serious issues.

“Instead of talking rap, rock and blues, it’s now about stocks, foreclosures and business models.

“With the nation slowly recovering from a recession, it’s my job to tell you how the local economy is bouncing back.”
