New markets columnist at TheStreet.com

Elizabeth Rappaport has joined TheStreet.com as markets columnist, according to Executive Editor Aaron Task.

Rappaport, who has extensive experience covering financial markets, will be responsible for our daily end-of-day analysis, as well as writing related market features. Most recently, Rappaport was at Dow Jones where she covered corporate bonds and wrote the “Convertible Corner” column, which focused on the convertible bond market and was often republished in The Wall Street Journal. During her tenure at Dow Jones, from August 2003 to April 2006, Rappaport won several “Ace” awards for breaking news as well as the William R. Clabby DJ Newswire Award for reporting on complex financial instruments in April 2005.

Prior to Dow Jones, Rappaport spent two-plus years as a reporter for Institutional Investor, including Corporate Finance Week. Her bubble-era, nonfinancial journalism work included being content manager for WomensEnews.org (2000-01) and editor-in-chief of Digital Kids and interactive group analyst for Jupiter Communications (1995-98).

Also at TheStreet.com, Nick Godt has taken on the challenge of “initiating” the financial news Web site’s daily coverage of commodities, excluding energy. With gold near $600 an ounce, copper at an all-time high, silver at a 22-year high and other commodities on the move, commdity coverage is a hot area TheStreet.com has previously underserved.

In other staff news, Ana Dane has been promoted to assistant editor at TheStreet.com. In addition to her role on the copy desk, Dane has taken on primary responsibility for “The Good Life” section, which has become a daily feature. Dane is responsible for managing the section, including soliciting and editing stories from staffers and freelancers.
