Wayne Faulkner, who has been the real estate editor of the Chicago Tribune, is going to become the business editor of the Wilmington Star-News at the end of the month, according to an item in executive editor Tim Griggs column.
The Star News, which is in North Carolina, is a New York Times newspaper. Si Cantwell had been the interim business editor.
Bonnie Eksten had been the business editor at the paper for the past seven years before that. She left in August.
Griggs wrote, “Starting at the end of January, we’ll roll out a new two-person business department. Wayne Faulkner, formerly the real estate editor at the Chicago Tribune, will be the business editor, and Sam Scott, who previously covered education for the Star-News, will be the business reporter. They’ll be responsible for coverage of local business issues: Southeastern North Carolina’s largest employers, trends in the workplace, how we spend and save money, and they’ll keep a close eye on area housing and real estate.”
