Editors from IDG/CXO Media’s CSO magazine received the coveted Grand Neal Award at the 54th Annual Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards, held Friday at The Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. CSO earned the Grand Neal from a pool of 1,045 entries.Â
CSO’s article, “Red Gold Rush,” pulled together trends in the security field, connecting unusual dots and unearthing real implications for chief security officers. Derek Slater and Sarah Scalet of CSO’s editorial team accepted the Grand Neal Award from head judge Bob Dowling, former editor in chief and publisher of The Hollywood Reporter and past recipient of American Business Media’s G.D. Crain Award.
Hanley Wood’s Affordable Housing Finance article “The Trouble with HUD and How to Fix It,” Newport Communications Group’s Heavy Duty Trucking article “Solving the Driver Crisis,” and The McGraw-Hill Companies’ Architectural Record Web site were recognized as Grand Neal finalists during an awards luncheon hosted by Dowling and Diana Henriques, financial investigative reporter for The New York Times.
Dowling also chaired the Neal Board of Judges this year, who selected one Neal Award winner in each category and ultimately chose the Grand Neal winner.
