Kathleen Williams, executive editor of the Hattiesburg American, said in her column on Sunday that the Mississippi newspaper will be increasing its business coverage and adding local columnists.
Williams writes, “We have added an extra page Sunday for business coverage, and on that page we will have a lot of local news: ribbon cuttings for new businesses, business people on the move, various announcements and calendar listings, etc.
“The Pine Belt area boasts, thankfully, a vibrant local economy, bolstered by health care, the University of Southern Mississippi and our other local colleges, manufacturing, agriculture and retail.
“Small business is the heart and soul of this economy, as it is across the country. To that end we will be featuring at least one small business spotlight every Sunday (today it is Premiere Tile and Grout in Hattiesburg) and one more during the week.
“We have also tapped into local experts as columnists.”
