Milwaukee paper's business columnist takes buyout

Tannette Johnson-Elie, the business columnist for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, has accepted the paper’s buyout and will be leaving the paper, reports Rich Kirchen of the Milwaukee Business Journal.

Johnson-Elie, one of the few black business columnists at daily newspapers in the country, previously wrote about small and minority-owned businesses and diversity issues.

Her last column appeared in Wednesday’s paper. At the end, she wrote, “After 19 years with the Journal Sentinel, a decade of which was spent as a minority business columnist, I have opted to take a buyout package from the company.

“I will be using the advice I’ve learned about networking while writing my Connections column for the past year as I prepare to pursue a new chapter in my career. You can continue to follow me on Twitter, where my username is @telie, and on Facebook and LinkedIn.”
