Dan Shafer has joined the Milwaukee Business Journal as its new manufacturing and tourism reporter.
He replaces Olivia Barrow, who left to freelance.
Shafer joins the American City Business Journals newspaper from Milwaukee magazine, where he was the digital editor. In that position, he oversaw the magazine’s growing digital product, and additionally contribute as a writer and editor.
In this role, he won two 2015 Milwaukee Press Club Excellence in Journalism Gold awards — Best Single Editorial, Statement of Editorial Position or Opinion, and Best News or Feature Website.
Shafer previously worked for Milwaukee Times, where he covered health care, manufacturing, innovation, technology, entrepreneurship, city news, and government.
He is a 2008 graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Oskosh.
