The Commercial Appeal in Memphis is cutting its standalone business section but not any of its business news staff, reports Madeline Faber of the Memphis Business Journal.
Faber writes, “Ted Evanoff, business editor at The Commercial Appeal, said the business staff is not being reduced. This is in spite of the fact that the business section will be a standalone piece only on Sundays, and it will be moved to the A section during the week, Evanoff said.
“‘This is a modern American corporation. What’s happening here is indicative of what’s going on in the economy in Memphis,’ he added.
“The Poynter Institute reported that The Commercial Appeal discontinued its DeSoto, Mississippi, edition. Additionally, there will only be one editorial page between Mondays and Saturdays.”
