Joe Carlson, who covered medical technology and health care for the Minneapolis Star Triune, has left the newspaper.
Carlson is becoming a senior researcher at Blue Heron Research Partners. He will start his new job on Aug. 2.
Carlson has covered health care beats full time since 2008, including medical technology, not-for-profit providers and health care legal affairs. His stories tend to blend health care business affairs and patient-focused information. He also spent time covering COVID-19 during the past 18 months.
Before joining the Star Tribune in 2014, he worked at Modern Healthcare for six years based in Chicago.
Carlson also worked for the Times of Northwest Indiana as a federal courts and investigative reporter.
