Former Bloomberg senior executive editor Laurie Hays has joined Brunswick Group as a partner.
Based in the firm’s New York office, Hays will become a senior advisor to C-suite executives and deepen the firm’s relationships with senior business leaders and will counsel clients on a range of corporate matters.
“Laurie has long been known as one of the most talented, well-respected journalists in the business media who has overseen a global newsroom, and she brings to Brunswick her deep knowledge and relationships with many international companies and their business and communications leaders,” said Steve Lipin, U.S. senior partner, in a statement. “She has been a colleague at The Wall Street Journal and a friend for 20 years, and I am thrilled to welcome her to Brunswick.”
Hays joined Bloomberg in August 2008 after 23 years at The Wall Street Journal. Her first job at Bloomberg was executive editor of corporate news. She left Bloomberg in January after being passed over for the top spot in the newsroom.
At the Journal, Hays supervised several reporting teams that won the Pulitzer Prize, Scripps Howard and Gerald Loeb awards. She is a graduate of Harvard College and worked previously as a reporter for the New Orleans States Item/Times Picayune and the Wilmington News Journal of Delaware.
“I couldn’t be happier to be joining Brunswick. Having worked with the firm for years on the other side as a journalist, I have deep admiration for Brunswick’s global reach, leadership skills and ability to help companies strategize and manage through tough situations and transformative deals,” Hays said in a statement. “After 30 wonderful years as a financial journalist at two of the best news organizations in the world, it is exciting to have the chance to foster greater understanding and communication from a different perspective.”
