Joe Bel Bruno has been hired to join the Los Angeles Times business section as the editor of its financial markets team, overseeing The Times’ coverage of stocks, consumer financial products, banking and related topics.
Bel Bruno comes to The Times from Dow Jones & Co., where he led the reporters covering the stock market for Dow Jones Newswires and the print and online editions of the Wall Street Journal.
From 2004 to 2009, Bel Bruno was a national business writer for the Associated Press in New York, where he served as the lead stock market reporter and anchored the news service’s coverage of the financial crisis. Before joining AP, Bel Bruno was the London correspondent for Knight Ridder Financial/Bridge News.
Bel Bruno starts in The Times’ New York City bureau July 11 and will relocate to Los Angeles in early August.
