Kossoff named editor in chief of International Biz Times

Julian Kossoff

The International Business Times has named Julian Kossoff, previously managing editor of the UK edition for more than six years, its global editor in chief.

He will report to Dayan Candappa, chief content officer of the Newsweek Media Group. Candappa was previously the global editor of the website.

“I am thrilled to have been offered this challenge at a time when there are so many compelling stories to tell around the world,” said Kossoff in a statement. “Having built a valued relationship with millions of readers and knowing what they want has been central to our success thus far. I look forward to building on that and leading the charge on a global scale.”

Kossoff previously worked at the Telegraph.co.uk, Associated Press TV and the Independent on Sunday. He graduated from the University of Manchester in 1989 with a degree in politics and modern history.

The business news website has seen a staff exodus in recent weeks due to controversies surrounding the parent company’s operations. The International Business Times, founded in 2006, has also been accused of inflating its audience with advertisers. In one instance, its questionable practices helped it secure a major ad buy from a U.S. government agency.

After layoffs in 2016, the website was accused of not paying enough severance.
