Patricia Konstam, who was the first female business editor of the San Antonio Light and later a business reporter for the Express-News, has died at the age of 85 after a short illness.
Vincent T. Davis of the Express-News writes, “Former Express-News business editor Charlotte-Anne Lucas remembered Konstam as a good friend who had a reputation as an invincible journalist.
“The first female business editor at the Express-News, echoing Konstam’s achievement at the Light, found a kindred spirit.
“Lucas said that when she wrote a code of ethics for the Business News department, she did it with help from Konstam, who had set up a similar list of guidelines at the Light.
“‘At the heart of it all was integrity that spilled into everyone around her,’ Lucas said. ‘Ego was never in the same galaxy as Pat. She taught gently as a guide as opposed to telling you how to do it.'”
