Kansas City Star names new biz editor

Keith Chrostowski, a 34-year veteran of The Kansas City Times and Star, has been chosen to head the newspaper’s business news desk, according to a story in Saturday’s paper.

He replaces Chris Lester, who left the paper to go work for the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.

Dan Margolies writes, “Chrostowski, 55, who grew up in Kansas City, North, has been The Star’s news editor since September 2007, helping to oversee the front page and other news coverage.

“He joined The Kansas City Times, the company’s morning paper at the time, as a copy editor in June 1975 after graduating from the University of Missouri with a journalism degree. He has held a variety of positions at The Times and The Star, including assistant news editor and executive news editor.

“He was also deputy business editor in the mid-1990s when, among other things, he edited a series written by Lester and Jeff Spivak, ‘Divided We Sprawl,’ that was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.”
