Jack Queeney, a former financial reporter for the Chicago Daily News and for Reuters in its Chicago bureau, died last week from cancer. He was 67.
Bob Goldsborough writes in the Chicago Tribune, “After a little more than a year at City News Bureau, Mr. Queeney joined the Chicago Daily News in 1967 as a financial reporter. The following year, Mr. Queeney shifted to a police reporting job at the Chicago American, which changed its name to Chicago Today in 1969.
“Mr. Queeney left Chicago Today in 1974, joining the Reuters wire service in Chicago, as a financial reporter. In 1983, Mr. Queeney was hired by the Midwest Stock Exchange as its director of communications. He left the exchange in late 1987.
“The following year, Mr. Queeney shifted to working as an investor relations consultant, joining the Financial Relations Board in Chicago and eventually becoming a partner before retiring in 2000.”
