It pays to know who owns what

Alexis Glick of Fox Business Network, in a segment this morning on America’s greatest business rivals, made a faux pas when discussing the business of baseball.

During a discussion with Boston Globe business reporter Jenn Abelson, Glick pointed out that Yankess general partner Hank Steinbrenner stated that he might be business partners with Red Sox co-owner John Henry sometime in the future outside of baseball.

She asked Abelson what she thought about that, and Abelson responded that it was unknown what they might do together, but that both teams had strong brands and high attendance.

To which Glick responded, “That would be like watching the New York Times and Boston Globe get together.” Uhh, Alexis, the New York Times already owns the Globe and has for some time.
